DaRe: <u>Da</u>ta <u>Re</u>covery Through Application Layer Coding for LoRaWAN

Long-range wide-area network (LoRaWAN) is an energy-efficient and inexpensive networking technology that rapidly being adopted for many Internet-of-Things applications. In this study, we perform extensive measurements on a new LoRaWAN deployment to characterise the spatio-temporal properties of channel. Our experiments reveal frames are mostly lost due channel effects, which adverse when end-devices mobile. The frame losses up 70 percent, can be bursty both mobile stationary scenarios. Frame result in data since transmitted only once basic configuration. To reduce LoRaWAN, design novel coding scheme recovery called DaRe works application layer. combines techniques from convolutional fountain codes. By implementing DaRe, show 99 percent recovered with code rate 1/2 loss 40 percent. Compared repetition scheme, provides 21 higher save 42 energy consumed transmission 10-byte units. We also better resilience losses.
